ALESSANDRO PIERPAOLO BARIS
Alessandro Baris is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and electronic music producer working across contemporary composition, sound art and audiovisual performance.
Intimate and evocative, his musical language unfolds through a continuous process of deconstruction and reconstruction, balancing instinctive gestures with refined sonic research. After studying Electronic Music Production and Sound Processing at the Conservatory of Music, Tempo Reale and RAI in Florence, he developed a multidisciplinary practice connecting music, cinema, photography and visual art.
In 2022 he released his debut solo album Sintesi, featuring collaborations with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Emma Nolde and Lisa Papineau. The record established the foundations of a personal sonic language where electronic textures, acoustic instruments and cinematic atmospheres coexist in a delicate balance between composition and experimentation.
Alongside his solo work, Baris has developed a body of projects that extends beyond the traditional concert format, embracing soundtracks, audiovisual performances, live scores for silent cinema and collaborations with visual artists.
His work frequently explores the relationship between sound, memory and image, leading to projects such as the soundtrack and sound installation for Magnum Photos exhibition Back to Peace? (2025), as well as live scores for films including Un Chien Andalou, Berlin: Symphony of a Great City, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and La Jetée.
Baris has also collaborated extensively as a composer, producer and performer with artists and bands across Europe and the United States, including L’Altra, Pinhdar, A Toys Orchestra, Egle Sommacal, JoyCut, Pulseprogramming, C’mon Tigre and Paul Savage (Mogwai, The Delgados).
His work has been presented internationally at festivals and venues including CMJ New York, Europavox Wien, Alcatraz Milan, Centre des Arts Paris and Ancienne Belgique Brussels, reflecting a practice that moves fluidly between contemporary composition, experimental music and audiovisual performance.
As a live performer he has shared stages with artists such as Trentemøller, Rafael Anton Irisarri and Daniela Pes.
