La Jetée is a 1962 French science fiction featurette directed by Chris Marker. Constructed almost entirely from still photos, it tells the story of a post-nuclear war experiment in time travel, a story that later on has inspired “12 Monkeys” by Terry Gilliam (1995).
The soundtrack rendition by Alessandro Baris, commissioned by Soundscreen film festival in 2020, it is inspired by the aesthetics and poetry of the film – combining soundscapes, melodies, silence and drum beats telling the story of a timeless dream in a dystopian world.
